STEM Goes Red

STEM Goes Red for Girls provides an opportunity for your 7th- 9th grade students to be exposed to some of Greater Cleveland’s leading STEM companies. The program consists of a hands-on exhibitor fair, speed mentoring, educational classes, and opportunities to make lasting connections. Students will walk away knowing the impact they can make through a career in STEM!

Our future is why.

STEM Goes Red is the American Heart Association’s nationwide movement dedicated to empowering a future generation of female STEM leaders, while providing them with the tools and resources for living long, healthy lives. As cardiovascular disease continues to be the number one killer of women, ensuring more women are at the forefront of developing science, technology, education and math (STEM) solutions has never been more imperative. STEM is our future and as a science-based organization, STEM is at the heart of who we are and what we do.

STEM Goes Red is designed to provide 7th- 9th grade girls insights into the possibilities and potential they possess to make a real impact on the world around them through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics). Girls are unstoppable and they're also our future. Together, we can ensure more girls have the opportunity to build a brighter, healthier tomorrow for all to enjoy.

The Need.

Women fill close to half of all jobs in the U.S., but hold less than 25% of STEM jobs, of which there are millions becoming available. Employment in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) occupations is projected to grow, and women are vastly underrepresented in these fields. The demand for workers in the STEM fields is outpacing the number of college graduates with science, technology, engineering, and math degrees.
